Hall of Justice
So I know this isn't really the place for this post (but then again, there is no proper place for this post). Does anyone know what happend to Chirs Walla's Hall of Justice studio? I heard that he closed up the studio about a year ago to concentrate on Death Cab, but I was wondering if anyone knew what happend to the room?
Thanks
Thanks

he said something at tapeop about either rats or rain leaking in the roof. i can't remember. but it sounded like the room had been overcome by evil spirits. or something.

cool thanks...
from the website...
"...As a studio owner, you either have a building you're able to record in, or you have boxes full of junk. Right now I only have boxes full of junk. The last incarnation of the studio has been disassembled, and DCfC now holds the lease for the old triangle building. This is great for me since it's still in the family, but now, I'm not personally liable for whatever goes wrong (there are doubts about the building's structural integrity, and there are some mice).
The junk is pretty nice, boxed up though it is. I'm moving to Portland, Oregon at the beginning of the new year and, I hope, rebuilding the Hall of Justice there..."
The Triangle Building HofJ was housed in has some recording history to it... wasn't Reciprocal based there as well?

It's a legendary space. The control room is tiny and the general layout is pretty quirky but because of every incarnation's affordability it's always been used by lots of rad bands. the building/studio has been called Triangle, Reciprocal, John & Stu's and most recently, The Hall of Justice. Just off the top of my head, some notable bands that have recorded there: Nirvana (Bleach), Mudhoney, Almost all the early Sub Pop stuff, Screaming Trees, Unwound, Built To Spill, Harvey Danger, Death Cab, Sleater-Kinney, Hot Hot Heat, Long Winters and a million more known and unknown bands...

Oh, it's that place. I recorded there in 1980- the first time I ever recorded in a "real" studio. It's amazing that it has remained a studio for all these years.slimjw wrote:It's a legendary space.
