And for that price... So long as it works (which sounds like it does), you got a pretty killer deal (in my book anyway)! Now go beater-crazy with it and post your results. I am looking for some more beaters but can't justify the extra few $ right now.
Good job.

For a percussion gizmo
I've got a DIY percussion gizmo in the works (I'll post a link to construction details if a success).
As a 3 AM (and no one else is available) demo take drummer, I am pretty ignorant about quality drum hardware.
My question is: What makes/models are decent (read sturdy rather than responsive) kick drum pedals. Cheap when bought used is the key spec.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Of the few that I have tried, I would say that the DW5000 (I own the AD3) appears to be very reliable/sturdy. Quite responsive and there are a few ways to adjust the different elements of the feel and response. Sturdy? I would say yes. I would say it would definitely hold it's own for years in a studio environment, and should do reasonably well on the road... I think quite a number of touring drummers use these as their primary pedal.?
Inexpensive? Depends on what that price point is and means to you. I picked mine up new for $155 from Steve Weiss Music. If it is going to last years and feels as good (to me) as it does, that seems more than well worth it even though it seemed like a bit when I paid for it... that is just because I am cheap and was broke at the time.
Shop around, play a few if you can and then scour eBay and craigslist. Like beard_of_bees, you might be able to turn up quite a deal.
