I've got an AKG C12 VR that may have been dropped. The rear diaphram seems to work, but the front's dead. Anybody know a good (and fast) tech you can trust with your tube mics? I'm in Chicago, but I wouldn't mind shipping it to the right person. Any references would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Audionaut
Joel, sorry about the double post, but nobody's biting in the DIY section.
Anyone know a good mic tech?

I dont.
Actually, for the newer stuff I try the manufacturer, unless it is the capsule, then I talk to Klaus Heyne.
Like for a FET47, I am sending it to Neumann USA. Klaus suggested this. If they tell me it is the capsule... It is going to Klaus.
Same deal with any of my mics that the manufacturer still exists.
Try emailing someone at AKG. I think you will be surprised...
I have a C12VR that was totally hot rodded by a pal, but he does not do capsules, just the electronics side of things.

Can't say that I've worked with Klaus, but I was pretty happy with the work from Korby Audio.
And of course, try contacting AKG.
