Bellari RP503mod

hey guys
just wanted to give my two cents on the black lion mod for the bellari 503 channel strip. I happened upon the preamp by accident, got it free with a mic i bought off of ebay. Was never able to use it because it was just the noisiest thing in the preamp section, with the last 1/4 of the pot having all the gain, and all the noise. Never noticed the compressor to do much either, except make a vu meter flick about.

I took out the sovtek and put in a 12AU7 Telefunken smooth plate from Brent Jesse
and switched the op amps for Burr Brown 2134s and a 275 JFET in the comp slot. I must say it is a vast improvement. For about $70 i now am able to use this preamp, and might very well opt to use it. It is incredibly warm, the eq is fully functional (still dont know about the comp though) and has a good sound. Furthermore, the noise in the preamp stage is gone. I even have enough headroom to get my shinybox46 cranked up for speech without a single droplet of noise.
