Small to mid-sized bass amps
Anyone have any recommendations on good small to mid-sized bass amps that are great for recording purposes? Time to upgrade...

the Ibanez soundwave bassamps sounds very similar to my traynor yba-1a..I couldn't believe it when the Ibanez beat out the traynor for clean rock bass..
I think the different wattages sell for 150-350 new..definitely worth a look..
I might even try it on snorkel..wink
who is that old guy thats reading that funny text on that record anyway?

Heh heh, that guy is Bruce. He was a kind and willing participant in the project, but maybe should have asked his mom (his legal guardian) before agreeing. Bruce ain't all there if you know what I mean, but a damn good narrator for the content at hand. I consider him a friend, but kinda took advantage of that friendship for that particular recording. Actually, that project was all about taking advantage of all sorts of folks so was kinda par for the course. Oh to be young and heartless again...beard_of_bees wrote:the Ibanez soundwave bassamps sounds very similar to my traynor yba-1a..I couldn't believe it when the Ibanez beat out the traynor for clean rock bass..

Ya know, I was just thinking...
The Ampeg B-15 has to be the only re-issued amp that the re-ish cost more than the vintage amp itself...
Get a B-15...
If for no other reason that the fact that it's a good investment....

Thanks to this board I now just use one of my guitar amps for recording bass. Lately I have been using a Musicman 65 tube head through a Crate PA speaker at low volume and I either use my heavily modded (not) sm57 or the ribbon mic. It works way better than five years of diddling around with DI schemes that never really sounded right. Mixing bass has been a breeze since I started doing it this way. No more faking it with eq, which never really worked anyway.
Of course if you have the bass player recording at the same time as a drummer in the same room this will not work.
