What is your method of recalling outboard gear settings?

Digital camera is what I do when I actualy attempt to recall outboard settings. More often, I just go with a new setting since my ears are fresh and maybe I'll get a better sound just starting over and not attempting to recall anything. Fresh ears and a new start are sometimes the key to making something you were working on and not getting anywhere with...to come out right.

The camera suggestions are pretty cool. That's the kind of unique stuff I was hoping to hear.

Sometimes I'll start a mix from scratch. I've got one now that I just tried redoing ala Michael Brauer style and realized it's not easy. So I scrapped that, and did sort of a compromise between the way I normally do it and his method. I'm still not too happy with this mix though, and I'm really just thinking it's because it could be tracked better. But that's a discussion for another thread. heh
