Do you qualify for a Roth IRA? If so, have you fully funded one for 2005? You have until April 15th. I think that would be a better use for your dough than more gear. You may disagree.

What do you record? Synths? Baroque instruments? Triple rectifiers on "11"? Your stuff? Other peoples' stuff? What do your clients wish you could do that you can't do now?
