a good manager will help you make career choices, given the choices already being offered you.
but that's a GOOD manager, and also it still means that he won't "get you work".. which they almost NEVER do.

if you really can't deal with making phone calls, following through with people, billing and collecting, tracking royalties and so on... a manager can hlpe with all that.
and as already stated, will do so for 15%

but they are rarely if ever "agents"

I've had management and got pigeon-holed as a 'roots rock/alternative country' guy.

I did get paid well when I had managment though. Had a $5000 weekend once too!
