Somebody with a lot of pres and some time?

Post by amishsixstringer » Wed Mar 08, 2006 7:29 pm

Hey, I heard an A/B comparison of a digi 002R pre and a home made "green" pre tonight, and I really enjoy that kind of stuff. So my request is for someone who has an hour or 2 and a bunch of preamps to post up a recording (preferrably the same take) with some of the higher end pres that everyone knows and some more budget pres or anything really. Don't post the names of the amps with the clips. It would be fun to try and guess what they are or which ones sound nicer in a 'blind' test. Then maybe after a week give out the answers. So it's not too hard, maybe you could give a random list of the preamps that are used and make a matching game? I would do this with my stuff, but I have very little front end to contribute. Anyone up for the challenge?? Thanks if you are!

Neil

Also, if you have any of the home made pres that are popular on here SCA, Hamptone, etc... those would be cool to hear as well.

a while ago (Jan. '04) a bunch of TOMB folks met at Blam studio in Chicago and had a listening party. Djeasygo put up a page with the sound files linked-
