Sounds cool, you got em working I guess. Did you use them on the guitar tracks? What mic is on the guitar?

I used the ef86 (or is it el84?) section of the pre on the lead guitar-- the mic is 635a, and on the rhythm right side, with the first version of the mod, not the 2 in 1. The mic for that was Shure 315. The left side rhythm was an EV V2 through an ATI m-1000, and pretty much everything else was through the Roberts (ef86 or whatever). Mics: bass--RE20, kick--RE10, snare--altec 683a, RE10 everything else. Vox were Sony C37P through the ATI, and one version reamped through a '57 Champ and blended in.

sounds cool!

Its the EF86 , You have been soldering too long in the heat. I wondered how you did those vox!

I gotta get me one of those altec 635a mics, I have heard some nice things through those.

Do you like the 2 in one better than the first mod? You can always get pretty close to the first one by jumpering the two stages.

The 2 in one seems much cleaner to me, but I dont need the ton of gain some ppl need.

I didn't get a chance to use the Roberts much between the first version and the 2 in one, so it's hard to compare. But I like the sound of the ef86 a lot. Haven't played around with the 12ax7 yet-- I'll wait until I get to know the ef86 well so I can make an informed comparison. Thanks so much for all your help with the mods. These are really good pres.

635a is electrovoice-- the altec is 683a. Confusing, I know.

There's definitely some timing issues with the drums in spots. I think that's the main thing that's bugging me about it. Shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Ok, I think I've fixed the timing issues. Brought the vocals up a hair too...

Super bright, I always have a problem where I dont make my mixes bright enough, you are on the other side of that spectrum
I can't have my signature here because it will only print.
