home mastering

how about a tapeop.com section dedicated to home mastering? granted, many would be offended, but even more would be excited and interested (methinks)...

I don't know how many would be offended, but I don't think it's entirely appropriate... mainly because there is really no such thing as 'home mastering' unless you can cut lacquer or output a PMCD.... I think recording techniques is a fine place to discuss '2 track processing to emulate professional mastering' techniques... granted, I think we all have to do this from time to time... personally I use WaveBurner, and it works pretty well... works kinda like a really crappy and cheap version of Sonic Solutions.

I am not trying to rain on any parades, but I don't think it's really something that should have it's own forum, just as I don't think there should be a 'tracking drums' forum... it's all part of recording in general...

However, maybe there should be an actual Mastering forum... not home mastering in particular, but Mastering in general... a place to discuss what to do with final mixes for preperation, a place to list our favourite engineers, and stuff.... 'home masterers' could ask questions about 'real mastering' and there are plenty of knowledgeable people on this board who could offer lots of insight, I'm sure.

I should really finish this first cup of coffee....

That would be sorta cool...

The coffee, I mean. I can always use more coffee.

But yeah, a mastering forum would be kinda nice also.

that falls under 'recording techniques' just like mixing does.
