This is mentioned in that DUC Pluggo link, but I think it warrants highlighting here:

The Tapecho plug-in is a very cool, free, tape echo emulation available here:

You set the delay time (or just sync to host tempo), and then select among delay-time multipliers, from 0.5 to 32. When it switches from one multiplier to another, it makes that zippy tape sound. Yum! You can adjust the amount of tape saturation, wow and flutter, the whole deal.


You'll need to install Pluggo first, but that's free from here:

Note that the current version of Pluggo, 3.6, is not compatible with Pro Tools 6.4... I think not with any versions of PT 6. For that, click on the "Older Mac Versions" link and install Pluggo version 3.5.4.

Just found this, haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet:

The "Bitter Sweet" is a freeware transient shaper from Flux. It includes an MS matrix for optionally affecting only center or side information. Looks pretty cool, but can't vouch for it yet.

RTAS and VST available now; AudioUnit still in developement.

Edit: I have to temper my enthusiasm a bit for this plug-in: it seems to not be compatible with Pro Tools 6.4, and nowhere is this mentioned on their site. Since you have to sign up and verify your email account to download this plug-in, it means 10-15 minutes of shennanigans until the thing is installed. A bummer to find out at the end of it all that it's not showing up in Pro Tools.

It's called Berrtill, it's VST only (Mac/Windoze), and it is "a distortion unit modelled from circuit bent hardware." It has a pretty freaky looking interface.

Damn, those Antress plugs look so juicy they may push me over the edge into a cheap wintel machine to run them. Looks like no mac versions.

I cannot get those Antress plugs to work in Sonar. They make a horrible choppy sound, like a cd skipping. I've tried re-downloading and re-installing. They work for a minute or two, then sonic hell breaks loose. anyone know why?

I got a plug in that you can add to a snare... and it can pretty much make the weakest of snares sounds super phat, punchy, and have a good attack. you can also use it on bass to beef it up and get it hard hitting. or for vocals to get an AWESOME distorted sound.

I got it on a disk a long time ago when i bought a firepod and it's seriously my most life saving plugin besides drumagog. And even then.. this plugin has saved my drum sounds a lot more than drumagog, even with the amazing steven slate library!

Please download it and put it on some of yalls rock sessions snare drum and see what magic it can do!
