Bands that make you strangely angry
I expect to catch some flack for a negative potsing, but here goes anyway.
There has always been some band or other that makes me turn the radio dial as fast as possible. The current one is the Decemberists. It is like nails on a chalkboard.
I don't know if the singer has a speech impediment or just an affectation, but it is highly annoying. (The music is well recorded, however)
Anyone else with current dislikes?

all the super whiney emo boy bands with amelodic vocals and completely retarded lyrics. i don't even understand how 'the kids' like that stuff. i mean, fast drum beats and chunka chunka guitars i understand, even if its totally derivative i can see the appeal. but the vocals...i just wanna punch those dudes in the throat.
Guided by Voices.
Yeah, almost everyone I know loves them, but I have a problem with people singing in fake English accents. Plus, the songs seem hugely formulaic to me. It's as if Pollard set up a flow chart and puts in the initial melodies and churns out the final product. I am sure this can be said about any number of things that I do like, so I guess this isn't such a valid criticism.

Modern Pop Country

The Moody Blue song "Knights In White Satin"
Nu Metal
shitty traditional punk bands (I love punk but for a band now to try and sound like they are from 77 is really really irritating).
uh there is more I am sure but those are off the top of my head

Any band that has a lead screamer...What? What are you saying?
Nickelback or any band that sounds or wants to sound like them.
Pop Country
Cold War Kids...using the line "give a check to tax deductible charity organization" on their song 'We Used to Vacation'
I will also stop. I'm getting irritated just thinking about these bands.

I won't go so far as to say they annoy me, but there are a few bands that everyone in the world seems to love that I just don't get at all.
Alice in Chains
Sublime
anything Mike Patton does
I would add Guns and Roses to the list, but it's mostly because I regret the loss of nine minutes of my life for sitting through "November Rain" just once.

Nothing really makes me angry anymore, musically speaking. I guess I'm just disheartened at the music industry in general. Or to sweep broader, the entertainment/media complex. It's largely a crock of shit driven and mixed by marketing think tanks. Recurring formulas of what sells have been found...and they are used over and over again. The bar of what is "good" seems to be so low these days.

"Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers really makes me want to grab a heavy chain and beat them both to a bloody pulp.
Or anybody that covers that song. What a terrible, terrible song.
