Cans du jour
Cans du jour
What headphones are you guys using lately? I've always been an AT guy but need to pick up another personal set or two. I don't mix in phones to any substantial degree so I'm up for trying something new, plus I still have the venerable ATs around for the well-known.
What's cool these days?

私はゼンハイザーのhd280s、偉大な分離と低音のペアがあります。彼らは少しバンドを割れはいえ、快適されるまで、耳の周り当初タイトの種類が、私は少しそれらを伸ばした。
(I have a pair of sennheiser hd280s, great isolation and deep bass. Kind of tight around the ears initially but I stretched them out a bit until they were comfortable, albeit cracking the band a bit.)
THere have been a couple new kids on the block of late that people were thrilled with. I'm sure they'll chime in..in some language or other,.

I have been looking at the Sennheiser HD202's for "artist" cans. Though a lot of online reviews seem to indicate they are about as durable as a champagne glass. I wish I could justify buying V600's or 7506's but after I pick up 5 of those I am looking at what could have been a more fun piece of gear!

Audio Technica ATH-M50's - wonderful. After shooting out against my AKG 240's and Sony 7506's I gave away the 240's and sold the 7506's. The difference was huge. Turned around and ordered another set.
While attending a NAMM show, I was very impressed with Shure's SRH 440's and preferred them over the 880's. The 440's were nice and flat.
I would hate to have to mix on any headphone set, but if I "had to," I would use the Shure SRH 440's.
The Senn. 280's sounded too hyped to me.
Best way to compare lots of audio equipment is to do your own shoot outs, or go to a NAMM or AES show.

I just got a pair of Shure 440s. I wish they were more comfy, but I do like the sound. My old (over 10 years?) Sony V600s were shot--I didn't realize how far gone they were till I put on the Shures.

I LOVE the 280s, but have gone through probably six or seven pair of them in the last five years. That's absurd. I dont' think I've ever seen one person outright drop the cans or do anything destructive, but they still manage to lose one side on a failry regular basis. They sound great and they're comfortable, but I just can't justify continuing to use them in a commercial studio if I'm going to keep spending money on them when they break.
I'm curious about those ATs.
