i just grabbed sonicbirth the other day. very cool so far. already exported an AU plugin and had it work just fine in Digital Performer, too. but i still have lots of exploration and learning to do.
are there any online resources for sonicbirth? the manual's a little bit barebones and haven't had any luck finding specific answers in the forum either.

do you fellas know of anything similar to this for PC/Windows platforms? i could really use it..
also, not to make a thread out of it, is there a way to use plugs destined for protools only with other programs? any kind of "emulator" or something of that kind out there? i would love to buy and be able to use the abbey road emi limiter (http://www.thomann.de/thoiw10_artikel-194160.html) with reaper..400 bucks, and i'm sure worth every cent.

dial a fix
greatest program for this type of thing out there. it's great for xp and below, but - DONT USE IT FOR VISTA.
super safe for xp. i've used it thousands of times (i used to work for a computer repair shop) to great affect. |

Hello recording/producing/mixing, Tape Op lovers!
I wanted to let you know that Intelligent Devices (Stephen St. Croix's old company) recently released three new cross-platform VST plug-ins (soon to be available in RTAS and AU formats as well), and we're trying to get the word out.
They are:
The Marshall Time Modulator - the only authorized digital version of a seminal piece of processing hardware (and arguably the best one of the flangers EVER)
Slip-N-Slide - a spectral interpolator - has to be heard to be understood
and
MegaDelayMass - a 100 (that's right, ONE HUNDRED) tap delay
All available for download direct from the front page without registration.

I don't remember how I found out about these, but I've been playing with them again lately and they're just too good not share. Free VST softsynths with interfaces and sound inspired by the Yamaha CS-5, Octave Kitten, Rowland SH-2 and EDP Gnat. Tested in Reaper on WinXP with a 5 year old laptop. They may not sound anything like the real ones, but they are good in their own right. Check them out. Seriously. Good.

Oh yeah those are great! I made a controller map for the Krolar(SH-2) on my Novation Nocturne 25. It's uncomplicated and only takes 2 pages, I think, but I love the sounds.

Flux has Bittersweet (saturation) and Stereo Tool (a stereo tool)
SPL has the FreeRanger (a free version of their EQ Rangers)
Brainworx has bx_solo and bx_cleansweep for free.
PSP just came out with an EQ that they have on special for $60 (nearly free)
ircam Tools HEar (encodes a surround mix to binaural) is killer and it is about $60 as well. Pretty cheap for magic (magick)
