Hello, I am working on my second pair of M8 preamps. I am trying to get the meter to run without the power tube. I purchased some small audio amps that drive the meter nicely but when I tap on the output of the preamp, the output level is decreased. Can I get these to match up? I know I do not understand these circuits fully, I've learned all I know about tube circuitry from this message board. The link has some info on the meter amp. I would appreciate any insight thanks.

Prob true.
Also, IIRC the meters in these have a pretty large shunt resistor inside, they work on a speaker level output with just a 5K in series. You may have to open up the meter and change it. (This wont solve your impedance issue, just one more thing to keep in mind) _________________ 'Well, I've been to one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing I ever heard come over a set of earphones'

I'm not sure, it is for a balanced input. Someone emailed me this circuit and was about to try it out, but I never had a reply about his success. It would be worth a shot. _________________ 'Well, I've been to one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing I ever heard come over a set of earphones'
