Sounds great man! I'd be interested to know how you tracked this:
Into a daw then into the 388 / straight into the 388
how did you sync everything. Did you use any insert effects in the recording chain? |

we recorded straight to 388. we'd track bass, drums and one keyboard live. then we'd layer other keys and saxophone after that. we never used more than 8 tracks.
90% analog stuff. roland cr-8000 drum machine, fender 69 jazz bass, selmer alto sax, hohner pianet electric piano, akai ax60 synth are all analog. farfisa, rhodes, strings are digital from a nord electro 3. analog effects were malekko 616 analog delay, ehx mini qtron envelope filter, olc chunky cheese gated fuzz, ehx pulsar tremolo, and biamp mr140 spring reverb. digital effects on the nord were phaser, vibrato and reverb.
all were tracked direct through a tube works valve DI or radial pro di. the sax was with a vintage sennheiser 421. all went through the mic press on the 388.
we did all the effects pre tape, so it sounded good before the mix. we mixed just with EQ'ing and adjusted levels. then we mixed down to 2 track which were sent to my mbox. the only thing we did in pro tools was fade in/out and an overall high pass filter on each track (80 hz 6db). the HP filter was because the 7.5 IPS has SO much bass that it was rumbling speakers, so after the high pass it sounds great. We tried to keep it in the analog realm as much as possible.
i'm glad you enjoyed it _________________ www.marktobik.com

Sounds great Mark. 1,2,3, & 5 sound like they should have Erykah Badu singing some sweet stuff over the top of the tracks. The beginning of #4 sounds a bit like an electronic project I'm currently working on...
Good stuff. The bass is indeed thumpin', as my little Dell spekaers were having a hard time keeping up.
