Hardly a massive purchase, but an SM87 for the snare. It's not an orthodox snare mic, but I was recommended it by a producer who got a great sappy snare sound with it when I was in for a couple of sessions. Will be moving my current 57 underneath instead. _________________

I'd love to try the Copperphone. Can I borrow it? (I'm only down the road).

I randomly tried it on snare and really liked it. It also sounds cool on screaming vocals _________________ My musical endeavors!

TONELUX.
500 series rack with a pair of each of the three 500 series units they have.
These are absolutely amazing.
The compressor is ridiculously good, the EQs are so musical... the mic preamps are nice and open.
Cheers

No prob! I've got some lap and pedal steel sessions coming up where I'll definitely be using it, but once I'm done, I'd be happy to send it out your way for a week or two. _________________ ~~~~~~~~

Oh, my God. This thread is STILL GOING?!?!?
I recently purchased a Fender Lead I and an Evans FET 500 amp to go with it. The Evans absolutely KILLS. I mean, it's seriously LOUD. The Fender Lead came to me with modified electronics, so I had the humbucker from my '81 Bullet swapped in. It's ~~~perfect.~~~ I like it almost as much as my Roadstar. _________________ "Avoid trends and clichés/don't try to be up to date/and when the sunlight hits the olive oil, don't hesitate"

166 pages dude. Crazy.
I finally got tired of repairing my DPA 4060 mic cable splices, and sent them in for proper repair with the right connectors and attachments. Bye bye to my home made adapters. Grabbed the boundary layer mount while I was at it, curious to see how it compares to good old gaffe tape in a piano.
My 15 year old Sytek finally got flakey, and I took the trade-in versus repair route with it. Weird shiny new one staring at me from the rack.
Grabbed a pair of TB550A EQ's (API 550A clones). Those have been fun to drive. They made me grab a pair of the new Classic API LC53A EQ's, which I'm curious to compare.
Now I'm broke again. _________________ Doug Williams

I got delivered these today for US$125.00
SHURE SM58, AKG D5, EV N/D 257B, BEHRINGER ECM 8000, AKG D310
Curiously, I already had one of each (besides the ECM 8000), but at this price ... _________________ vlayman; THD; blog; TFP |

recently acquired a pair of Quested S7r's. They aren't exciting to listen to but the translation is UNREAL! its everything I was hoping for. there are no surprises at all when moving to other systems. Loving life ever since... _________________ Ok, who brought the dog? - Louis Tully

| I downloaded the free version of Studio One (the Presonus DAW). Kind of fun/interesting. But I just used a bit of the IRS refund on a Line 6 M9. I know multi effects pedals are little bit pooh-pooh'ed, but this thing is just great. Great sounds, great usability, very very quiet (dead silent) in bypass. Got it off of Hellomusic. Will be selling a few things now! |

I just totally scored some sh*tty old office dividers out of a dumpster!
Uh...
I mean, I just locally sourced some super low-cost, sound-absorbent, hi-tech gobos! _________________ "Avoid trends and clichés/don't try to be up to date/and when the sunlight hits the olive oil, don't hesitate"

Mjau, I was only teasing, but if you're serious:
A) You're the freegin' Man, 50 Grand!
B) I will wait to play that card for when the right project comes up, but I'm mighty obliged!
Vvv-- That AKG D5 is a nice mike. Haven't seen one in quite a few years.
As for new gear for yours truly-- Shure SM7, waiting on a DBX 118, picked-up a third little video camera on-the-cheap (10 bucks), a nice little Mitchell Uke (I think it's a tenor? I don't play, yet!), and two new little mixers for live/on-location/field-recording (Behringer Xenyx 1202 and 1002B; Don't Say It!!!!)...

Gregg, let me know what you think of that 118. I've been curious about those things for some time now. _________________ "Avoid trends and clichés/don't try to be up to date/and when the sunlight hits the olive oil, don't hesitate"
