I periodically find myself getting lazy and reaching for a plugin instead of patch cable... but maybe you could use some analog goodness?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DBX 119. I recapped it, (larger p/s filter caps and modded a few other values) with Nichicon and Wima. I replaced the power cord with a heavier, grounded cord. I also replaced the original RCA jacks with some 1/4" TS jacks to make it easier to patch. Fresh Teak oil on the wood sides too.
I've used this one on drum tracks and bass guitar and it sounded great.
I did have some problems with noise (as with any unbalanced device close to the DAW) so I also used a Sescom ADA-1 that has 1/4" inputs and balanced XLR outs. It also allows you to adjust the gain going back into your DAW so you can hit the DBX harder if you want... I will include it with the DBX 119 because it worked nicely.
I also used a passive DI (in reverse) to send a balanced XLR out and convert it to 1/4" and this gave me a quieter signal (not included, you will have to supply that part).
$100 for both (DBX119 and Sescom ADA-1) + shipping (probably ~$20 for both units). I'll cover Paypal fees.

First, an 80's vintage Fostex 3070. It's got scratches on top, bottom and edges, but not too bad on the face. I've replaced the power supply filter caps (and if I recall, with larger caps) and replaced a few of the pots. I swapped the knobs for some from a Yamaha PM1000 (these knobs are a little larger and easier to turn IMO).
It works well and can really smack a drum track. Stereo with 1/4" TS or RCA in and out. Compressor, limiter, and gate.
$50 + shipping (probably ~$15). I'll cover any Paypal fees.
Fostex 3070 sold!
