Hey now! That looks fantastic No-Fi.
I have this thing for 10" vinyl. I'm not sure why it's cooler than 12", but it just is...

| "Tempest" by Bob Dylan. I dig it - especially more so on the 2nd listen. Recorded in part by Scott Litt. I'd love to hear the outtakes, the Bootleg Series Vol. 8 or whatever (Tell Tale Signs) from a couple years ago had some stuff that I liked better than the album versions. I have a feeling some of the tracks he throws out are real gems. |

i just picked it up last weekend. i've had jerusalem for awhile, and it never knocked my socks off, i never thought it sounded right. mainly the drums/cymbals. it's amazing how much different dopesmoker is....sounds so much better.
i really like things that seem simple but are actually really hard, and this record is a prime example.
it's actually quite soothing to listen to.

I'd been waiting a whole year to hear the new Tame Impala record which finally came out on Tuesday. "Lonerism".
Haven't even had a chance to listen to it... must do that in the next few hours.
Then I'm going to see Louis CK.

It's a odd record, no? Almost like Dylan doing poetry on top of loops, most of the time. I've only heard it twice - just before bed - but I can't recall a single solo, backing vocal, bass run, etc., not many drum fills, change-ups, or even variations in internal arrangement, just gauzy, folky blues grooves.
What a voice, too, that I've long ago come to love, but is often rougher than ever.
I like the previous 3 new-song records better ... but do like this one for late-night listening. I just wish it had more instrumental moments. _________________ vlayman; THD; blog; TFP |

Nile - At The Gate of Sethu
New Nile! One of my favorite death metal bands. This is definitely their best sounding album sonically. It's pretty crazy, you can hear every nuance very clearly. It was recorded and mixed by Neil Kernon and he did a great job! Musically the album doesn't disappoint either. _________________ My musical endeavors!

It's definitely interesting. You're right, I don't think there are many if any solos.
Him doing his thing over long loop-ish backing is nothing new..."sad eyed lady of the lowlands" from blonde/blonde and "highlands" from time out of mind and many in between.
I actually feel like it breaks out of the old-timey blues style moreso than the past few albums with a couple tracks.
My fav. of the recent albums is Love & Theft. Though I'm a fan of Lanois and thus like Time out of Mind too. Talk about gauzy production! |

I love both of those records. I would love to do something sounding similar to Time Out of Mind, but I think people would think I fucked it up. _________________ vlayman; THD; blog; TFP |
