I've got a couple of old Rat Shack PZM mics that run on batteries and terminate with a 1/4 inch T/S plug. Anyway to make these balanced and phantom powered? _________________ RobCoates |

Hi!
There was a very simple two-xstr Schoeps-type circuit published by Scott Dorsey in the September 2001 issue of Recording Magazine. I've used this to convert several RS PZMs to balanced phantom-powered mics. They sound quite good, especially if you upgrade the original capsule to one of the newer Panasonics (available from Digikey). . . .

EDIT: Ah yes, in the Scum's link above, I see the Christopher Hicks' "Method Two" circuit is essentially the same as Scott Dorsey's. I've used 2N5087 xstrs with good results. _________________ www.droolbrothers.com
