Hey Gregg, believe it or not I had come across those and deemed them un post-worthy :shake: (sniffs haughtily).
But as long as we're going there...

These gooseneck LED lamps are extremely flexible + height adjustable, great for vinyl inspection, getting light behind the amp for wiring changes, and just generally cool lighting effect. And since they're LED, not halogen, you don't burn the crap out of anything that accidently touches them, and the bulbs last like forever.
Power consumption: 3 watts.

For your old-school mix tape needs.
Reintroduction / production of reel to reel decks and pre-recorded reel to reel albums..

Hard to believe the entire album takes up so little tape..Image

Until you realize it's only going by at 3 3/4 IPS.

Wanted a livingroom turntable though placement was limited by lack of table/shelf space and a bouncy floor,
so installed a little shelf under the wall mounted shelving already in place. It's only about an 1 1/2" off the floor.
Worked a treat.

Billy Joel made a metal album in 1970. A two man outfit called Attila.

"End of the sixties, I was in a two-man group. We were heavy metal, we were going to destroy the world with amplification, we had titles like 'Godzilla', 'March of the Huns', 'Brain Invasion'. A lot of people think just came out of the piano bar... I did a lot of heavy metal for a while. We had about a dozen gigs and nobody could stay in the room when we were playing. It was too loud. We drove people literally out of clubs. 'It was great, but we can't stay in the club'

More like out of round off center hole punched vinyl, but that's not as catchy I suppose.

These albums were all recorded using only a Smokey amp and a Malekko Chicklet spring reverb.

Mine are all stock Gregg, thank you very much. :D

..But if I did get one, it would just have to be this metal one with "spiral tuning holes", the Oyaide Audiophile Turntable Mat MJ-12 for a mere $200.

"High precision cutting by NC machining the aluminum A5052 work hardening processed indicating the dimensional accuracy and acoustics excellent. The special anodized, and tuning the vibration mode of aluminum. The correct warping of vinyl by having a taper angle of the conical shape of the 1.0 degree elevation angle to the outer periphery from the center, the force down and under the record stabilizer the record board. By operation of the record needle is stabilized, trace of sound track will improve dramatically. Place the spiral-shaped tuning hole, thoroughly eliminated unwanted vibrations disturb the trace of vinyl. "

That's some deep shit right there. Found poetry. They could just as easily be talking about an audiophile slipmat or the universe.

Totally. And really hard to find locally.
Probably just as well, I mean it wouldn't fit inside the house anyway.

In Japan at the moment. Got a chance to go through the mrs. record collection at her folks place. Apparently a big Clash fan back in the day.

Yokohama today. tangerine dream's first album I've seen go for silly money I picked up for the equivalent of $9. (Well, plus the steep airfare to get over here..) Edit: this looks like a repress as there's no slot for the red balloon included in the original.

Found in dollar bins everywhere, this soundtrack album got a lot of play in our house by my decidedly un-hippy mother. Her copy had a skip at the line "I'm falling through a hole (turns out it's actually a 'fold' )in the flag" that I would open up the stereo console each time it played to move the needle over. In any case, the Japanese version has a gatefold cover and a beautiful thick lamination to it. The gatefold spread and rear cover have all the lyrics written out in English and Japanese. Nice to see what they were actually saying after all these years in those parts that I'd heard wrong or were hard to make out. ($3.10)

Shimokitazawa today. Some nice albums to be found, but not for prices I could stomach. Grabbed this late 60's early 70's ? reissue for $5 or so, pretty shiny like not played much but has managed to get some scratches. Thick vinyl, heavy textured gatefold cover with attached fold out poster. RIP Robin Williams.
