Balanced Output to Unbalanced Input, just a level issue?

Post by alexevansohio » Thu Aug 28, 2014 5:00 pm

Hey folks,

I have a quick, fairly dumb question about going from balanced to unbalanced. I very rarely use any unbalanced gear outside of my guitar and bass rigs, but I recently started a cassette based record label, and am recording master cassettes to duplicate on a cassette deck that only has RCA inputs. The outputs on my interface (an Apollo Twin) are TRS, but I can switch the level from -10 to +4. Can I just use a pair of balanced cable with TRS on one end and an RCA on the other? Its not a super long run (15ft or so), so I'm not really worried about interference, I just want to make sure there wasn't anything beyond the 14db offset to worry about.

Thanks,

Alex

The cassette recorder also has two 1/4" 'Mic' inputs, but I'm imagining they're unbalanced too? I was figuring the RCAs on the back were the best bet.

Nothing to worry about, given the short distance involved.
