Thanks for the input guys.

Maybe my problem is the splicing tape.

I've been making my cuts with an angled splicing block and using the regular blue 1/4" splicing tape. Besides scotch tape is there anything else that you guys would recommend for the splicing tape? The scotch tape doesn't leave anything on the heads does it?
