New album from Nahneen Kula

This is the long awaited album from multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Charlene Gibbs of the band Nahneen Kula. By day she works as a microphone technician at AEA ribbon microphones in Pasadena, California. Definitely something different than what you usually hear here.

p.s. - No autotune here. Tracked first to a vintage ex-CBS Records MCI 2" 16 track deck (direct, no console!), monitored thru Logic DAW, then overdubbed/manipulated/mixed ITB.

In her mp3 download is a .pdf file with pictures, song lyric sheets, a history of how the album was created over many years. There is also a list there of a number of young, musically educated Southern California musicians who contributed their talents. There is not much exposure of young, college-educated musicians here in Los Angeles other than the Echo Park/Silver Lake indie rock scene that gets way too much.

This is and isn't that. Very different.

She used Distrokid for electronic media posting (iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud). Very effective and inexpensive.

Shades of Mr. Bungle. In a great way. But she's definitely her own thing.
