Any idear what equip I want?

I want something I can store a cuppla songs worth of bass lines in for jamming purposes.

I want, say, 5-10 songs with 2-3 parts each.

I'd like to play the parts in, save 'em, and be able to re-arrange 'em.

I'd like it to sound more or less like a bass guitar, or at least a low bass synth.

I don't care about drum sounds.

I like the idear of a looper, but if I can find some kind of sequencer that I can store songs in, that would be easier.

I would prefer not to have to use MIDI or a computer - I just wanna play either the entire song in, or play some loops and then re-arrange them into songs, ex.:
loop A 5x- loop B 3x - loop A 5x- loop B 3x - loop C 5x - oop A 5x- loop B 6x

My intent is to plug it right into a bass amp, so we can jam guitars over it, with live drums.

And I want it inexpensive, of course.

The jamming with a drummer part rather complicates it. It is my experience that drummers tend to vary from a loop pretty quickly unless you provide them a reference click, which rather denigrates the traditional role a rock drummer plays from timekeeper to percussion performer.

Many loopers could fulfill the rest of your requirements. Might look at Boomerang, Digitech JamMan and the Roland loopers.

Thought about it some more and picked up a Tascam D008 digital recorder.

I figure to either:

a. pre-cord my bass-line and then re-amp it to jam along with the drummer and other guitarist; or,

b. jam bass-guitar-drums and record onlY the bass offa my amp DI.

Because the unit has two phantom-powered XLR tracks to record with at a time, I can actually record us onna stereo track while playing to the prerecorded bass track - should sound better than my Zoom H2.

Best part? US85 shipped with a power supply and a 32gig SD card.

I have a Digitech looper, BTW, the Jamman Express XT , but find it kinda a pain in the arse; I also have loop capabilities on the Hardwire Delay, which I haven't liked using.

Somewhat along thos lines, I will say that as a guitarist I love the EHX Freeze.
