I just messaged the manufracturer:
=========================
I have a single-digit serial # Meat pedal, and a 400's # Meat, Jr.

Both work fine with batteries, but using a 1-Spot or Mr. Power, even if they are the only pedal, results in whine-like noises. Is that because the power-supplies are not isolated? Is there a mod I can do to use these pedals on my board without having to use batteries?
=========================

If any of all y'all have an idear, lemme know, please.

FWIW, I use the Toadworks Mr. Squishy compressor on my bass board, with a 1-Spot, no issues.

Back to the manufracturer website linked above it says, "Recommended AC Adaptor Visual Sound 1-Spot". :evil:

Well better regulated supplies, maybe tweaking the value of that big grey cap, if it's on the power line. I think there's like a chargeable 9v supply you can get, that would give you clean DC for a gig.

Simplest and best DIY would be build a nice regulated 9V supply, going by the size I imagine the 1-Spot must be a switch mode, I have an older Boss supply that is regulated well, look for something like that?

Toadworks responded:

Hi Mick

The short answer is yes, there is a simple mod - and yes, it's because the
op-amps in the signal path are not decoupled from the power supply... when I
designed them, it wasn't a problem... but some of the newer digital power
supplies generate ALOT of noise, so this has become necessary on all new
designs.

Easy mod: both pedals should have a red, white, and black wire connecting
the 2.1mm DC jack to the PCB. Replace the WHITE wire with a 25 ohm resistor.
That should fix the problem.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

I ordered the resistors, still awaiting receipt.

I will report back.

Wouldn't be a big deal to make an inline power filter for those PSU's. Electrolytic cap on each end, either a choke or just a small resistor between.

Actually something to keep in mind if ever such a problem is again encountered.
