It's Been Nice...

Post by Gregg Juke » Fri Sep 09, 2016 11:24 am

Hey Y'all,

I miss you, and I miss this place. But I'm having too much trouble accessing the site. This post itself took 15-20 minutes or so, "round trip," on my work computer... At home, via computer, iPad, or iPhone, the wait-time is currently egregious, onerous, and basically makes my participation here non-feasible at this time.

I will continue to check back in hopes that a) things around here get fixed, and b) the whole place isn't shuttered or dies of attrition, as we heard inklings of awhile back before all of the technical trouble started weeks ago. All I can say is I've learned a lot, "met" some great people (and in a few cases, actually met them live!), and I hope to be able to participate again someday at a refurbished and robust TapeOp Messageboard.

If anyone wants to contact me, the web-link below in my sig should still be active, and a mail address that will do the trick is RhythmGJ (at) Hotmail (dot-com).

Until then, thanks for everything and God Bless & Good Blues,

GJ

Sorry to see you go - on my PC running windows 10 - viewing the site on Chrome - it works fine. No excessive waits.

MUCH slower on my iphone however.

Works fine for me too, on an old XP machine. A little slower than most sites, but not too annoyingly so. I hope you come back, Greg.

Gregg, have you tried it in Firefux with Ghostery or other popup/ad blocker? I have to wait about 15 seconds for "Megaboard" to open, and it's a little slower than other sites in general, but it's not a deal breaker in terms of reading and posting. What's your setup? Have you tried all the browsers available for your platform?

My experience is that the computer with the ad blocker is still fine, but the other computer stalls out. So I guess at this point an ad blocker is mandatory.

Anyway, it's clear that any real maintenance isn't being done nowadays. Really I was hoping for an actual shutdown or lock, but a wasting death seems like the current plan.

Using a 2011 Mac laptop with Chrome Version 52.0.2743.116 (64-bit),
and AdBlock.

It loads super fast. When posting answers though, it does take 3-4 seconds to finish the process.
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

the Megaboard takes a while to load (has for at least a year or two now), but once loaded the site is OK.

Firefox on Linux with Adblock+ here.

It seems like someone has tweaked the engine and the site is running normally again!

Apparently the recent round of pharma spam was enough to get it the attention it needed?

Of course, it's been broken for nearly a year. Who knows how many people stopped coming around in that interval.

Hey Guys!!!!

I've been checking back every once in awhile... Same... No... Loading... Thing........
For months and months and months.

UNTIL TODAY!!!! Who! Amazing, blazing load-up speed and access to everything very quickly. If this level of access remains... Could it be?!?

I'm BACK, Baby! I'm back.
