Wow, that's a giant tape recorder (picture)...

It looks a bit like an old Tandberg portable, although I could not find any pix with a model that has an atomic/nuclear symbol on it:

Sorry for the huge image
I am used to boards that resize

Anyway
thanks for the incite I will look that brand up
eventually I will just open this thing up and find out if there are tubes in there.
If so I plan to make it into an amp or mic pre because the tape machine does not work

I've seen a similar case recorder from that era branded "ATOMIX" - did not look like this one - perhaps a different model - very rare - not much on the web at least

Oh man thank you so much Minor Threat !

The real question is does the one I have
have a tube amp in it ?

I will soon find out and let you know
maybe I should restore it if its rare
but I highly doubt this will ever work as a tape recorder again

I had a Voice of Music 1950's tube RTR and I used to use it for an amp on occasion. One session circa 2004 it caught fire mid-performance (yes made it onto the record - LOL) but yea be careful with crusty old high voltage - it can literally kill you in several ways.

If there are tubes then there will be some decent sized vents on the sides/back.

But who cares exactly what is in it? What does it sound like?
