have i been going to the wrong places?

i find 120gb firewire drives in non fancy fan cases 7200 rpm OX911 for about $145
same in fancy aluminium case $200-$240

then looking at making it myself, fan cases seem to start at $50, and fancy aluminum cases at $100-$140. then raw fancy 120gb drives just under $100.

cant seem to make DIY save me any money. it all seems to come out to the same price.

is there a source of enclosures that i am missing?

eeldip,
I got all the stuff from Macresq.com except the enclosure, which was a rack shelf and a blank panel I had laying around. It fit two drives on nylon standoffs, and one dual power supply. snazzy.

I think it cost me about as much as a lacie 120 gig drive to mount two seagate 80 gig refurbs, and get a P.S. from digikey, buut it looks snazzy, and is totally solid and quiet.

I hope that helps someone...
