USB 1X1 MIDI interfaces

Post by endupok » Fri Jun 06, 2003 6:51 pm

Recommendations? Do the EDIROL UM-1S or MIDISPORTS have any noticable latency? What should I get? Just got a new keyboard and want to use it with Nuendo.

I've got that Edirol port and have been very happy with it. Seems to be as happily in sync as MIDI ever gets. (remember 31kbps.) I have it going as a secondary MIDI interface to my Aardvark DP2496, and they seem to get along happily, which suggests to me that it'll pr'y get along with just about any system.

Good old Roland.

Cheap too.

yeah, cheap is good. I'm using m-audio stuff. I think it's compatible.

...I was looking into the direct pro. The Omni i/o only gives me 2 preamps. I see a DMP3 in my future to make up the differnce. More patching options on the Omni that I end up using a lot, though. So, how is the knobless interface and DSP?

no, MIDI i/o on the omni either.

I posted something of a review here:

I didn't mention the knobless interface. That is one aspect I'm really happy with.

Take it easy

a total left field approach would be to get that oxygen keyboard thing from m-audio.

you can use it as a 1x1 USB interface. you can also use it to control knobs in nuendo (i think, as long as you can map the nuendo interface to midi controllers) and you can use it to control VSTi keyboards/synths..

pretty neat little keyboard.
