GAME ZONE (was GBA: Worse than crack, or just me?)

Post by cassembler » Mon Jun 16, 2003 12:24 pm

EDIT: This thread is now dedicated to the discussion of video games, in all of their dorky but cool glory...

Now, I don't find myself with a lot of free time, and home console systems never did much for me. So I picked up one of those Game Boy SP's, felling part dork and part "wow!" at the same time.

Worse than crack for the past two days, you can buy like five games for 20 bucks. Just wish they had a good Civilization game...

Last October I bought a PS2 just to play Grand Theft Auto... with the 80's theme. Man, did that game suck my real life-points. After 2 weeks, I unhooked the console and stuck in my closet. I'm probably going to sell it now.

Ebay is another crack-like addiction. I spend so much damn money on LPs and cassettes, it's fucking annoying. I need to get a handle on it. As a musician, you think you need to have a complete collection just to satisfy your musicology.

speaking of losing real world points...

i love it when the computer world and the real world start smearing... like when you are at work, and you are thinking about a computer game, and you start looking upset. and someone comes over to you and says, are you mad. and you say, yes, those damn americans! they have this huge continent and they keep attacking me. but my tech is better, so i am thinking of nuking washington, but i dont want to start a global war... i dont know what to do?

And now that the NBA Finals are over with, I can concentrate on me dull life again. Congrats to the San Antonio Spurs and, especially, David Robinson. It's his neighborhood.

I wish Houston had such a team. We're all style and no substance.

Has anyone been addicted to drugs? That would suck, especially if you want to be a musician or engineer.

Yeah, Civ, Civ2, SMAC, and Civ 3 each took about 2 years away from me... Which leaves me... 16?

while we are talking games, i am currently playing Freedom Force, which is a great silver age superhero 3-d realtime 3rd person fighting game.

it is based on the old role playing game "champions" if anyone cares.

you can make your own hero with certainly the most complicated and cool character generation system i have ever seen in a computer game.

Many is the time I wished I had all those hours spent playing Civ back. If I did though, I'd probably waste them playing Civ all over again. Sigh. :)

Well, I knew they beat the Mavs for some reason.

Back on topic, I notice that there's probably a lot more engineers that play Civ games than musicians... Musicians seem to like the 1st person shooters more... There's got to be some deep psychological implications there...

2 games for the GBA intrigue me enough to beat up a stupid little kid and steal her GBA.

Earthbound and Advance Wars.

Back in the day, I was into PC RPGs. Wasteland is my all time favorite game.

I used to be addicted to NBA Live basketball on the PC and PlayStation.
