best song intros
What song intros do you love? Sometimes, I listen to the song intro over and over again, because I think it's so great. Like:
Elvis Costello "Watching the Detectives"
Stevie Wonder "Have a talk with God"
The Clash "Guns of Brixton"
Radiohead "Airbag"
Blur "Girls & Boys"
Beach Boys "Wouldn't it be nice"
Although the last song sort of violates this rule, I'm thinking of songs that don't necessarily get better after the intro. Like Neutral Milk Hotel's "Holland 1945" has a great intro, but the song is so freakin' good you forget about the intro.
Any others?

im not sure what the name or anything but they play it on oldies 95.7fm all the time, and Im sure they do in your town.
"I was walking down the street one day...Does anyone know what time it is?"
after the intro I gotta turn the station
every yes song. although same with oasis.

Thanks, now I have to go listen to 5 hours of the Swans to wash that song out of my head.

Yeah, Kyuss "Freedom Run" is a great intro for the two-minuters. (Side note: the last song on that album is still the shortest one I own at 3 seconds long.)
Dream Theater "Caught in a Web"
Tool's "Prison Sex"

Ive often imagined 'Freedom Run' as a whole movie similar to the first Terminator or Escape From New York. With the album 'Blues for the red sun' as the soundtrack.

Re: best song intros
do the 5 notes that start "get a grip on youself" (stranglers) qualify as an intro? one of my all time favorites
i always crack up when i hear the intro to "ride my see saw" (moody blues) on the art bell show.. (after every late session)

Re: best song intros
Side one of Frank Zappa's Lumpy Gravy starts with a guy intoning,
"THE WAY I SEE IT BARRY, WE'RE IN FOR A VERY DYNAMITE SHOW."
Side two starts with some other guy sort of singing, "merry go round, merry go round, doot doot doo, doot doot doot doo, doot doo--" then he says, "And they call that 'doing their thing.'" And this other dude says, "Oh, so that's what doing your thing is."
Those are two of my favorite song intros.
