What hardware controllers do you use for your DAW?

Hi all. I'm interested in whether any of us use hardware controllers (primarily for mixing) with DAW's? If you're a PT user there's Digi002 or command8 (or both together), for everybody else there's mackie control universal. Is there anything else of note?Particularly anything that's good for DP AND PT? How do the controllers affect your working (good and bad)?

Any thoughts?

I just bought a behringer BCF and BCR.

The BCF is already essential gear. It can perform full Mackie emulation. And it cost ~$170(!!!!)

However:

- In it's current form, it's interface with Nuedno somewhat unstable. As in, several buttons on it will crash Nuendo instantly. Fucked up!!
- The moving faders are noisy, when covering small distances. Keep in mind that I have nothing to compare it to, however..I am not looking forward to the time when I have all 8 of them moving slowly at once.

Desipte these issues, I'm using it for >everything< now. Definitely worth it.

The BCR hasn't been touched yet.

I have the BCF as well.
It's cool for getting my drum balance now and again, but for the most part I never touch it.
I think when Steinberg supports it, it will become more useful.
I'm pretty used to writing automation in Nuendo with the mouse so I don't really use faders all that often.

I still like working on a console best for getting everything together quickly.

The 002 is pretty cool. The zoom and transport among other features are very useful.

I'm using the Mackie Control (in HUI mode) with PTLE 6.4 on a PC. It works really well. I use it for balancing, panning and send control. I still do all my plug-in tweaks with the mouse. The thing that kind of sucks is the master fader in PT doesn't work with the Mackie master fader.

Using Logic Control with Logic. Seamless and excellent. No complaints.

hoping to be able to afford logic control soon. although i don't really mind using a mouse anymore... totally made my peace with it. but faders would rule like dolphins.

With Logic Control, faders/motors are fine. All transport functions, solos, mutes, panning, etc.

The only thing I'm havnig a tough time getting my arms around is navigating and knowing where you are at any given time. There are like so many levels and you can control EVERYTHING from one unit: busses, virtual instruments, plug ins, etc. Can become very confusing.

I would LOVE to have a simple remote to drag around the room to press record when I'm recording myself that I could use with my Digi002 Rack.

Hi, that simple remote could be a blue tooth keyboard.
I have a Peavey 1600X I use with Cubase, but just to get a feel for the mix. I will just rough mix the automation with it, and then fine tune with a mouse. I think a graphics pad might be nicer yet, but I found that there was just too much info on the automation lines with the faders, and it is real easy to overshoot your moves. If it wasn't for my outboard midi gear, I would probably sell the 1600X, and buy a good sized Waco pad.
