Black Lion Audio Contact Info.

Post by dictaphone » Fri Jan 14, 2005 11:23 pm

So I ordered an Alesis mod 2 from Black Lion Audio in October and he will not respond to my emails. Does anyone here know how to contact him? I'd love to get this resolved and not have to publicly defame anyone.

as far as I know he's off the map - no one seems to know what happened - but the website is down, and he is not getting emails, and he is not on the forum here anymore. Its strange.

i ordered some vca's from him in november and haven't received them either. i was able to get through a couple times via email in early december, and he said he had "researched his files" and had never gotten a paypal confirmation of my order, but saw that he had received the money, and would send the vca's out "asap". awesome! if anyone gets a hold of him, please let me know.

He emailed me a few weeks ago and said that he was sorry for the delay and would send it within 24 hours and I'd have it by the end of the week. Three weeks later and no mod kit or email.

If anybody is aware of when he gets back to business maybe make mention here. I have been wanting to get the bellari mp105 kit, but like someone else mentioned the website has been down and so I have done much thumb twiddling.

Theres actually not a kit for the MP105 - the mod is just the Tube and the Op Amps. There is an extended mod which includes some fast recovery diodes in the power supply - but really the IC's and Tube are the main thing.

Tube: 12AX7 of your choice (NOS RCA, Mullard, Amperex!!!) - in a socket
IC's : Analog Devices AD826AN - also in sockets!

This is a real easy one to do - and it makes a HUGE difference.

Milkman, Do you know of another good source for the op-amp? I am pretty new to modding anything, so I dont really know the usual sources.

I believe you can get these directly from analog devices:

Analog Devices

Tubes can be found even at your local music store, or online. There are millions of 12AX7's out there in the world - just make sure to get a nice one :D

I did the 105 mod to two Bellari's I own and they do sound pretty good, the mod is about as simple as can be. I wonder what happened to the Black Lion dude, weird. You can get the op amps directly from analog devices.....they will also send two free samples, next day delivery!!!! You may have to register as a business of some sort, but I can assure you they don't check  You can get the two op amps you need for the mod for free and a tube is less than $20. Well worth the time and $

You can also order Analog Devices chips from Digikey.

I second Digikey. I just placed an order with them for some Burr Brown opamps and the replacement Darlington transistor for my ART VLA Pro. They also have sockets for the IC's. Kind of a one stop shop.

Hmm, I wonder if he's in some legal trouble perhaps? Why else take down the contents of his website (http://www.blacklionaudio.com/) ? I mean, the splash page is still up, there's just no links to anything else.

The site is registered through godaddy.com. A whois query at http://registrar.godaddy.com/whois.asp gives a contact name, address, and number, but it's not Matt Newport himself.

Good luck,
Leigh

Yeah that guy ran off with my money too. Told me the vc'as were on backorder, but the rest of my stuff would go out.

Then I emailed back and asked if I will have to pay for shipping on the back order and he replied, no, you will not have to pay for shipping.....

wow.

Out of my 80.00, paypal was able to recover 1.07 from his account.

Matt has my 3036 and hasn't responded to my emails in MONTHS.
Can you guys give me an email that you've had a response from in the past few weeks?

Cheers,
Raymond
