How good of a deal is this: Biamp 2442 $500

I e-mailed the guy and asked how the preamps sound, of course he said they sound great, but I'm just wondering if these are decent boards. I did UTFSE and saw that biamp stuff can be good. Just wondering if this is a good price. Seems like it could be for that many analog preamps.

many years ago a friend had a biamp board that we used for recordings. it's an older and different model than the 2442, don't remember what it was. it was pretty shitty. the pre's in particular.
this one may be better, don't know.
that's just my 2c.
