motu 896 or alesis ai-3 w. digi 002 rack & protools le??

Post by alschnier » Sat Jan 22, 2005 6:26 am

I've been trying to make the switch from DP4 to ProTools LE. I love DP4, but want to give ProTools a shot to see if it operates w. less hangups. I sold one of my 896 & got a Digi 002 rack. I want to be able to use my other 896 w. the lightpipe connection. I know you can do this w. the newer 896hd. has onyone had any luck w. the older 896? How do you configure the 896 to operate as a standalone converter?

also, has anyone used the Alesis ai-3? how are the converters? I've spent a lot of $ on my studio & don't want to sacrifice the integrity of my signal path for $500 at this end. how do they compare to the Digi002 or the 896?

any other confiurations I might consider to get another 8 i/o w. the Digi 002?

can I use 2 digi 002 racks?

should I just hang it up & go back to a btter motu setup (2 896hd)?

thanks,
al.
