70s music recording/production

Post by spalevsky » Fri Aug 08, 2003 11:58 am

I'm a journalist in Iowa and I'm working on a story about sound recording in the 70s. It's very much in the idea phase, and I'm currently conducting some research. The topic is still broad, and I'm trying to narrow it by talking to people who are much more knowledgable than myself.

I'm looking for people who lived and worked with record production in the 70s. I'd love to hear a first hand perspective about innovative technology, artists who really influenced the recording of today, things that were new then but are now obsolete, etc. For example, I'm not interested in knowing which was a better album, Zeppelin II or IV, but moreso the recording techniques that made their sound great. If you can help, please send me an email, I will be grateful.

I suppose a good place to start research is the book "Behind The Glass" by Howard Massey. See:
