my new album - "a panic in a pagoda"

Post by toothpastefordinner » Mon Jan 10, 2005 9:45 am

Melodic poppy indie-rock. Recorded on a pair of Tascam DA-38s, mixed at home, mastered in Nashville. Mid-fi sounds and good songs. It may remind you of GBV and early REM.

New song from my new album:

Other songs from my new album:

The album is now out and it is here: http://www.toothpastefordinner.com/merchandise.php

I hope you enjoy these.

Hey drew,

These all sound really great. I always liked the version of "All the way to belgium" from the now-defunct songwriting competition page. It's nice to hear it beefed up a bit. I like the guitar sounds on "evilseeds." Nice job!

I listened to Evil Seeds. I dig the guitar sound. What gear are you running for the guitar setup?

fender mustang thru crowther hotcake to silverface fender champ is the jangly sound on "evil seeds".

the "A" sized neck on the mustang is perfect for my tendonitis-ed hands.

I listened to Evil Seeds and Belgium...seems like you guys would be fun to see live! Cool sounds!

What are you using to get the vocal sounds, especially on Belgium?

Thanks dudes. At this point it is just me playing all the instruments.

The vocal sound is me singing into an AT4033 (on these songs posted here; some others used an AT3035, beyer m260.80, or sm57) thru a distressor into the tape deck. A few songs on the albums used a Spectrasonics 610 to add a little bit of high-end and grit back into the vocal sound.
