That halftime show was rad.

What a refreshing halftime show w/ McCartney eh? He was actually singing, and playing, and had a good band w/ big Mexican looking dude who was rockin out. The lights and screens and overall production were good too. See, it is possible to do this type of thing without nipples, backing tracks and America hard-ons!

The "big Mexican dude" was Abe Laboriel, Jr.

Yeah, it was a pretty cool show. Simple and no BS.

DUDE! That was awesome! Anybody know who the rest of the band was? They just KILLED. One of the guitar players looked like he had an Epiphone Casino, which was a tasty tip of the hat to John Lennon. Paul sounded great. Seems like he was a bit rusty a few years ago but after the last tours he's back in top form again.

Looks like the same band that played his last tour. Which was absolutely fantastic, btw.

Like I told my dad while we were watching it, seeing those shows and the halftime show makes me want to just sit down and play Beatles and Wings songs all week.

The first couple tracks seemed really dead- with no crowd noise at all and everything so super close mic'ed it was so dry that it felt reeeally small. I wish they had brought the band closer together instead of keeping them out on those little circle things.. That drummer, though. Yeah, awesome.

i was saying the same thing about the crowd. why not mix them into it? it made it seem like the audience wasnt into it (audio-wise, at least)

can't decide if this is on topic or not, but Abe Laboriel, Jr. is all over the newest vanessa carlton disc.

go ahead and bash her if you want, i did - but then i got this disc and was pretty blown away. really strong songwriting from her and stephen jenkins. which surprised me given the crap third eye blind puts out. "harmonium" is a good cd.

If anyone finds a video cap on the internet of the halftime show. Please post a link. I didn't watch the superbowl or the halftime show so I missed it.

My favorite superbowl moment ever, though; was early in the game, on one of those "FOX SPORTS" shots between the commercials and the gam, with the dolphin with the football in his mouth, and immediately after when they cut to a shot of the field you hear one of the announcers go "was that real?"
