Yes.
One fave trick is for a single hard-panned signal, or for a wide stereo signal. Take a bussed, (mono) version of the signal, flip the polarity, and add that back into the mix up0 the middle. Artifical wideness ensues (and mono-compatibility starts to go away for that signal.... oh well.)
