a subway that connects 14th street in manhattan to nearby hipster-infested williamsburg. it also goes all the way thru brooklyn to the hood i grew up in (canarsie). but no one pays attention to it beyond w'burg ;)

Ah yes, there are few things worse than waiting and waiting and waiting for the freaking L train in the wee hours, and then you finally hear a train coming, and then it's the goddanged yellow garbage can train...and it's all local track, and the garbage train goes crawling off at a snail's pace, so you know you're gonna be stuck there a loooooong time...

I used to say that the F train stood for Fucked, the D was the train of the Damned, and the L was named because you had to wait a looooooong time for it...

Plus it's letter is gray and drab and kind of ugly. You get on the trains in midtown and their dots are all purple and blue and green and sexy, some of their logos are even diamond-shaped instead of round -- very fast- and efficient-looking. The L is a funky rattletrap little train by comparison.

The G train goes from nowhere you'd want to be to nowhere you'd want to go...

There needs to be a north-south train through the west part of brooklyn. Getting from Park Slope to Williamsburg is such a pain in the ass. You have to go into Manhattan and come back on the L. Unless you take the G, and that sucks about as bad.

The G is like the Train Of The Damned or something. The L may be a mere myth and legend after midnight, but at least its route occasionally passes through civilization.
