i recently moved up from my tascam 8 track to an old otari 16 track and i want to upgrade my console. the old mackie is gonna be gone, and i'm looking for something with better sound. i'm looking for something under $2,000 with good pre's and eq's. something vintage might be nice. any suggestions?

You can find some good deals on Trident Sidecars. Say 8-12 channels. You'll have to look, but they are there. It's gonna be tough to find something with real good pre's and eq's for that price though. Maybe Soundcraft stuff. I've used a the Ghost before. Not too bad. I just spent the better part of 2 or 3 months looking at consoles. Be patient, it's a virtue. Good Luck.
