dhenderson nailed it: the Threshold is actually Ratio and Current is threshold. I have the operators manual for the unit; it's up on a ebay all the time. It was strange when reading the manual at first and realizing that's what was going on.

I love these units! I use mine on Bass an Vocals; It get's a killer bass sound.

I usually send to it from one fader (controlling how hard I hit it) and return on another.
