Optigan discs

Post by joel hamilton » Tue Nov 01, 2005 7:45 am

Anyone got any cool ones they can copy for me?

Just make a copy at kinko's or whatever on to transparency.....

We could start a swap program....
Those discs sound amazing when you blow them up or down slightly when copied, along with scratching the copies up so they sound even older..

Please PM or email me about this. I am looking for the choir one specifically.
I think it is the only one that is NOT an organ sound on the keys.
I could be wrong about that, but regardless, I am looking for the choir one and the big symphony one... I dunno the name of the symphony one..

The samples are killer!

Welcome back, all.

that's all you have to do is make a transparency copy of the disc? seems too simple. if that's the case, why don't more people do it? i would love some more optigan discs, but they are impossible to find, and expensive when you do.

You can totally just make a transparency copy of the disc, and then cut very carefully. I have done it. It is really fun to mess with the copies, like draw lines on them with a sharpie for an even more "vintage" sound. Or cut the hole slightly off center (very slightly) and get some srious "wow" out of the sounds. Amazing.

I'm not really selling them, I just dubbed off some CD/DVD-Rs earlier this year for a few bucks each for a few people on another board. it had all the loops from the whole set of optigan discs plus some cut-up single hits and so on.

I got rid of my real optigan when I thought it would fall apart if I looked at it wrong.

not to offer someone elses services, but Pete Weiss who is another Tape Op contributor has a ton of optigan discs. I would ask him, he'd probably be down with it.
