Build my Photosynth--pdf layout included!

Post by inverseroom » Tue Nov 01, 2005 11:19 am

Well, while the board was down I designed this and sold a bunch of them on eBay...but I'm getting sick of doing it and figured I'd finish the ones I've started and then make the whole thing, ya know, open source. The circuit is basically a hacked science fair project.

Image

It's a one-oscillator miniature synth that outputs a square wave. The knobs control pitch, volume, and LFO slope, and the buttons are circuit-bends that make it freak out. There's a photocell on there so you can control it like a phototheremin.

Here's a pdf project page:

For some reason the "B" circuit bends quit working for me, so I connect them all to "A" now. Maybe there's a difference in the chips I've been getting.

Enjoy!

I saw that on the ThereminWorld site, and I took a look and recogized your name from this board. That photosynth looks really nice. You (among a few other) have inspired me to start building my own stuff. I was actually going to build a photo-theremin from another schematic I found. Thanks for posting yours!

I had no idea I was on theremin world! Awesome.

I've only been DIYing stuff for a year...great fun and useful knowledge for fixing stuff.

You are wrong my friend...the beard is back. :D

Now, stop it, we're going off-topic.

How did you do the artwork on the box? Silkscreen?

No, it's just inkjet sticker paper, with a protective clear poly coating on top. You have to spray very lightly or the ink will run...
