... as cheap as possible. i just picked up a 38-8 for peanuts and i want to make sure everything is working before i spend the money on new tape. so if anyone has any they want to part with let me know. please!

oh and maybe a take up reel as well.

what formulations are you looking for ? I've got some +9 stuff lying around and I only use +6.

this is my first real reel to reel so tell me if i have this wrong. the way i understand it is the 38-8 is setup for +3 tape to meter at 0vu. so if i were to run +9 tape then i would let it meter at about -6vu. right? regardless id like to try a few different formulas to see what works best for me. so if your up for getting rid of that +9 on the cheap PM me the info.


EDIT: or do i have that backwards? im about to pick up an mrl and figure it out for myself.
