How hard is it to build a power supply?

Post by Knights Who Say Neve » Sat Nov 05, 2005 9:29 pm

...+/- 15 volts, for mic pres from old R2R deck.

I can soldier and read a voltmeter. i.e. basic tech skills.

Too much to handle or a piece of cake?

Any on-line resources? Kits?

piece of cake to build but if all you need is bipolar 15, just check ebay for acopian supplies. $400 power supplies for $10. for real. sad.

A basic bipolar power supply is an easy project, but things get a bit more complicated if you need phantom power. This supply adds a full wave voltage doubler and a third regulator to produce a 48V output from a common split secondary transformer. To get +/-15V out of it, you'll have to change R3/R6 and R4/R5 to 220R and 2K4, respectively. I have a few of these circuit boards left, e-mail me if you wanna give it a try.
