sounds pretty good. the one thing that stood out to me was that maybe the vocals could be more upfront in the mix.

I also record and play cheesy hard rock (samples coming soon, hopefully), so I can't pass this up...

First off, I like the song!

The drums are not present enough. I'd like to hear more high end on the snare. I agree with you about the kick--it's too soft. There are a few minor timing problems in the drums, too. No big deal, but every so often I hear a kick hit that's not tight.

I dig the bass tone. The guitars are good, too. You might suck some of the mids out of the guitars. Not necessarily the "death metal scoop", but they're a bit too midrangey in my opinion. Maybe find the most offensive frequencies and notch them out?

I won't comment on the vocals since you said they're still being developed.

I think the mix as a whole needs more balls. I'm not sure what would help with that, as I'm no expert myself. But it is missing something in the lows and/or low-mids.
