When I switch in the Brit Mod, the compression is taking place as a 1:1 ratio no matter what the compression ratio is set to?

Also, with the Brit Mod version, there is some compression going on at 1:1, with or *without* the Brit Mod engaged???
To get the acutal "brit Mod", you must engage the brit mod switch while th eunit is in 1:1. This emulates the sound of an 1176 with all four ratio buttons pushed (an old trick) which means the actual ratio is undetermined. You can also use the brit mod switch with other ratios to get some crazy sounds.

Distressors with the Brit Mod feature will compress in 1:1 even when Brit Mod is disabled. This is a different sounding compression than Brit Mod. It's somewhat similar in that it has a very steep slope, but it is not as aggressive sounding. I have used it to tame transients on several
occasions.
